Imagine Dragons at the Hollywood Palladium 5/29/2013
by Matthew Downes
A few months back we bumped into management for Imagine Dragons. They let us in on a little secret. Sales for their upcoming Hollywood Palladium show (5/29) were going so well that they were definitely going to do a second night (5/30). We were pumped for them. How big can this band get? How much better can their live show get? The, Las Vegas born and raised, Dragons brings a bright selection of songs from their debut album Night Visions while adding a flare that only can be done at a live show. Each song is as epic as the last. They extend each tune with percussion mixed with an amazing production of lights and the magic of scrimmed video.
What else can be said about these guys? They’ve catupulted to rooms 3 to 7x the size of their last support tour with AWOLnation and have a firm grip on Top 40 radio with hits like “Radioactive“, “Demons” and, the what now seems like a classic “It’s Time“. With a team who also manages The Killers, and one of our favorite bands in the world Paper Route, they look to stay straight and narrow through their rise in fame.
I cannot remember the last time I was convinced that a band truly gives a care about their fans. Lead singer Dan Reynolds, in between their closer and first encore, took a minute to stare at the crowd of almost 5,000 at the Palladium in disbelief. He then looked down at his feet and shook his head as to share the “This is just so amazing” feeling (my words, not his). In more humbler terms, he said “Thank you so much for all of your support, it means the world to us” (his words, not mine). I believe him and in them. Do you? If so, go check them out on tour here.
You will not be disappointed.
