Ava Luna: An Alluringly Whimsical Musical Experience

By Aurora Cowen

From Brooklyn, NY, this six piece indie funk group released their first full length album Ice Levels (Infinite Best Recordings) in March, 2012 and just announced January tour dates across the US with Celestial Shore and ZorchAva Luna is an intriguing combination of simplicity and complexity,  often times fusing together two separate song ideas into one beautiful compilation of breakbeats and synthesizers with soulful vocals, both male and female, seemingly utilized as instruments, at times in lieu of guitar.  Their eccentric musicianship paired with layered vocals are the essence of the Ava Luna entity, creating an alluringly whimsical musical experience.
