We’ve Got It Covered: 3 New Electro Renditions Of Songs We Love (And Hate)

By Sam Boloorchi

2014 has so far debuted some really incredible covers — some which are even better than the original. These four covers of tracks we are familiar with are all transformed into a new sound and beats that make the new version unique and creatively innovative each in their own way. Put in your earplugs and turn up the volume!

1. Vancouver Sleep Clinic & GXNXVS – “Hold On We’re Going Home” (Drake Cover)
Vancouver Sleep Clinic and GXNXVS takes one of Drake’s most popular songs, slows it down, adds some celestial and synthetic beats, and gives us this amazing cover.

2.  Wolf Saga – “Team” (Lorde Cover)
Canadian electronic artist Wolf Saga takes newcomer Lorde’s song “Team” and converts it into a 80s electro banger. It’s filled with bass synths and hard-hitting layers of different beats.

3. Clean Bandit – “Royals” (Lorde Cover)
This is my absolute favorite cover of the past few months simply because of its innovate new sound. Clean Bandit takes Lorde’s pensive down tempo hit song and makes it into a fun number. They start the song with a quiet cello and violin solo. Random, right? However, it transitions so nicely into the actual track that is mainly composed of pop and electro synthesizer beats. Clean Bandit has definitely showed Lorde how to do it right.
